CALL FOR PAPERS
28 May 2021(online)
We are pleased to announce that the Netherlands American Studies Association will hold its 26th annual Amerikanistendag on Friday, 28 May 2021. The event will be hosted by our colleagues at the Roosevelt Institute for American Studies but will be held online, due to covid restrictions. The Amerikanistendag is a student conference and serves as a forum for students and recent graduates at the BA, (Res) MA, and PhD level to present their research to fellow students and scholars of American history and American studies in the Netherlands. Alumni from the 2019-2020, for whom the Amerikanistendag 2020 was cancelled, are most welcome to present their thesis research or postgraduate research plans at this year’s event. The day will also include the award ceremony for the Theodore Roosevelt American History Award, a prestigious prize for the best MA thesis in American history and American studies in the Netherlands. If you would like to present your research and meet other students and scholars working on similar topics, please join us! We invite papers on any topic related to the USA and/or the Americas writ large. Approaches from all disciplines are welcome: history, literature, cultural studies, economics, political science, law, gender studies, philosophy, etc. Our aims are both to showcase individual work, and to gather current interests and methods from a new generation of American Studies scholars.
