The StudentNASA is a student run board affiliated with the Netherlands American Studies Association (NASA) and composed of all student associations of American Studies as well as students from the different American Studies departments.
It was founded at the start of 2010 in order to accommodate cooperation between the study associations and students, with the objective to increase awareness of, as well as participation in activities that are organized in the field of American Studies in the Netherlands. Furthermore, it aims to become a research source as well as community for all American Studies students, providing information on the different American Studies programs, research institutes, research grants and internship possibilities. In order to launch the new organization, the StudentNASA organized a conference on ‘ (New) Media and the United States’ at Utrecht University on Friday 21 May. Next to organizing the event, and launching their own website they also launched a NASA Facebook page and Twitter account. They encourage everyone to become a “friend” on these social website pages, as to further increase the Dutch American Studies community which has already established itself there.
The StudentNASA is currently still looking for students who want to actively participate in further increasing the StudentNASA scale and scope, making it the number one organization for Dutch students interested in the United States. They also welcome suggestions, information on events, internships and research grants, as well as any other relevant news for American Studies students, which can all be send to the following e-mail address:
