Interview with NASA President Frank Mehring

On June 19th, NASA president Frank Mehring (Radboud University) sat down for an interview to discuss his new role as president of the Netherlands Association for American Studies. Among the topics discussed were Prof. Mehring’s views on American Studies and its contemporary relevance to society, his ambitions to foster a strong and integrated pan-European network of American Studies programs, and how to better engage the general public through popular books and events.

He also presented the numerous vibrant developments within the Dutch American Studies community, with the 30th annual Amerikanistendag, hosted by the University of Amsterdam, the interdisciplinary “A Water’s History of the United States” conference, hosted by the Roosevelt Institute for American Studies, and NASA first Student Career Day, hosted by Radboud University, standing out as particular highlights.
