The Netherlands American Studies Review is looking for new editors! The NASR is looking for two editors (MSc/MA/PhD students) to join the team in September 2023.
As an editor, you will be involved in the selection process and you will be asked to edit a number of papers for each edition. You will work together with the authors of these papers to help them improve their work. You will also work closely together with the editor-in-chief, who will support you throughout this process and who prepares the final version of each paper for publication. Editors work on a voluntary basis and can expect to spend approximately thirty hours on each edition, most of which will be done in the months of April/May (Spring edition) and October/November (Fall edition).
Requirements
Joining our editorial board can be a great way to gain experience as an editor and to connect to a nationwide network of Americanists. Although previous experience as an editor is not required, we do expect candidates to meet the following requirements:
• You are a master’s or PhD student at a Dutch university
• You are interested in the study of North America; a degree or minor in American Studies is a plus
• You are fluent in English and are familiar with the basic rules of academic writing
Are you interested in joining NASR as an editor? Then please send an e-mail with a short introduction (outlining your educational history and relevant experience) to our Editor-in-Chief Christine Mertens at cm.mertens@roosevelt.nl before July 1, 2023. You can also reach her for any questions or further details.
