The Netherlands American Studies Review is edited by a board of four to six editors (MSc/MA/PhD students), an editor-in-chief (PhD student), and an academic coordinator (Professor). We are currently looking for two new editors to join our team in September 2025. As editor, you will be involved in the selection process and will edit a number of papers for each edition. You will work together with the authors of these papers to help them improve their work. You will also work closely with the editor-in-chief, who will support you throughout this process and who prepares the final version of each paper for publication. Editors work on a voluntary basis and can expect to spend approximately thirty hours on each edition, most of which will be done in the months of March/April (Spring edition) and October/November (Fall edition).
Requirements
Joining our editorial board can be a great way to gain experience as an editor and to connect to a nationwide network of Americanists. Although previous experience as an editor is not required, we ask for candidates who meet the following requirements:
- You are a master’s or PhD student at a Dutch university
- You are interested in the study of North America; a degree or minor in American Studies is a plus
- You are fluent in English and are familiar with the basic rules of academic writing
Are you interested in joining NASR? Then please send an e-mail with a short (no more than 1 page) cover letter (outlining your educational history, relevant experience, and why you are interested in becoming an editor) to our editor-in-chief Nicolas Turner at nlamericanstudiesreview@gmail.com before 15 July 2025. You can also reach him for any questions or further details.
