Netherlands American Studies Review 2025, no.2

The Editorial Committee of the Netherlands American Studies Review is pleased to announce that the second issue of 2025 is now available online and can be accessed here.

This issue represents a new departure for NASR—rather than covering the full range of American topics, this edition of the journal is dedicated to a single theme: environment. Despite this specific focus, the six carefully selected pieces showcase the diversity of approaches that are possible under the rubric of ‘environment.’ The authors engage with the theme from a wide variety of perspectives, both in terms of content and methodological approach. More broadly, they highlight the fantastic work being done in the Netherlands at the intersection of the environmental humanities and American Studies, as well as the high standard of student work being produced in Dutch universities on environmental and American topics.

The United States is central to the history, present, and future of the climate crisis, and as that crisis grows ever more acute, it becomes increasingly important that scholars explore the intersections between America and the environment. We are therefore very thankful to all the students who sent us their work and trusted us with it, to the editors who worked tirelessly to select and fine-tune these papers, and, of course, to the NASA Board, which has supported us throughout the process.
