Damian Pargas is Professor of the History and Culture of North America at Leiden University, as well as the Director of the Roosevelt Institute for American Studies. Damian is specialized in the history of slavery and its aftermath, especially in North America but also in global contexts. He is the author or editor of seven books and numerous articles on various aspects of slavery, as well as a founding editor of the Journal of Global Slavery.
