Debby Esmeé de Vlugt (1994) is a Lecturer in the History of International Relations at Utrecht University, where she teaches transatlantic studies, the history of activism, and other related topics. Her research concerns the transnational and transimperial history of the Black Power movement, focusing primarily on connections between the United States, the Caribbean, and western Europe. Her work on this topic has appeared in the Journal of American Studies and is forthcoming in a number of other journals and volumes. Debby Esmeé became an active member of NASA in 2019, when she joined the board as PhD representative and founded its student journal, the Netherlands American Studies Review. In 2024, she joined the board as a full member.
