
Katy Hull is an Assistant Professor of Modern Gender History in the American Studies department of the University of Amsterdam. She is particularly interested in civil rights, masculinity, and women’s and gender history. Her book, The Machine Has a Soul: American Sympathy with Italian Fascism, was published by Princeton University Press in 2021. In addition to her PhD in US History (Georgetown University, 2018), she holds an MA in human rights, and an MA in international relations and international economics (Johns Hopkins, SAIS). From 2005 until 2010 she worked for the World Bank in Washington, DC. Katy's current project is on emotions and activism in New Left autobiographies.
